Hello! As explained in my previous article, Scotland was a dream and this road trip was even beyond my expectations! You’ve been many to follow this trip on Instagram and Facebook (THANK YOU!) and now I’m gonna show you more photos! Please feel free to ask me any questions in the comments at the bottom of the article. In the next articles I will detail step by step these 11 days road trip in Scotland, to give you itinerary and attractions’ ideas and tips!
How can you prepare your road trip in Scotland
I arrived at Glasgow airport in the late afternoon, and the first stop was at Tesco to buy a sim card, which cost me £ 10. This is really worth it if you want to use your phone as a GPS throughout the trip. Personally the card worked the entire trip and I was using datas almost all the time. I won’t lie to you, sometimes in places removed from almost all civilisations … of course no network!
Then I went to the Europcar agency to pick up the car, a beautiful red sparkling Fiat 500! For 2 drivers with a discount (because booked via my Easy Jet flight) I got it for £200.
Driving to Loch Lomond
The road trip finally started: Loch Lomond baby! It’s very easy from the airport as the highway to get there is close by, and apps like Google maps or Waze make it even easier. After about 45 minutes drive I arrived at my first stop: Garelochhead.
The hotels were quite expensive near Loch Lomond, so I preferred to get away from it a little bit. Therefore I spent my first night in Garelochhead. I stayed at The Anchor Inn, which I booked through booking.com . The room was perfect with a comfortable bed, in a peaceful area. Exactly what I need to enjoy a beautiful sunset and spend the first night in Scotland! Just what I needed to recharge the batteries and go back on the road the next day!
Do you have any questions? Have you been to Loch Lomond? If so please share your experience!
