Hi there! Jersey’s bays are all as beautiful as one another, but they all are quite unique. St Brelade is perfect for socializing with all its restaurants, St Ouen is a true paradise for surfers… Portelet is the place to go for a peaceful stroll whether you’re visiting in summer or in winter.
Why should you visit Portelet Bay?
You will love Portelet as much as I do, if you are looking for:
- A quiet outdoor place: it’s not one of the most popular bay for tourists or locals. Indeed, near Portelet is located in St Brelade’s Bay, with its shops, restaurants and spas, and is easier to reach. As Portelet’s bay is surrounded by cliffs, having access to the beach is not that easy for everyone. If going down the beach doesn’t seem too complicated, the rise is a true exercice!
- Because with cliffs, come awesome views! The panorama over Portelet’s bay is really beautiful with its turquoise water and wild vegetation. The view also unique with its tower at the center.
- Indeed, let’s talk about this tower! There are several towers like this one in Jersey, and they are called Martellos’ Towers. They were built everywhere in the UK during the 19th century, to protect the British isles against the French invaders. At low tide you can walk to the tower, however I prefer to warn you it’s closed. I’m sure the view is worth it but never had the chance to go on my own…for now!
So, would you like having a break in Portelet?
Boujou (the Norman way to say XOXO)
