Hi there! Here is an article that will please the gourmets! Indeed, I’ve visited Graindorge, the cheese factory in Livarot, and telling you all about it! Graindorge is the perfect place if you want to learn more about the production process of our ‘Made in Normandy’ cheeses. More over, if the weather is not on your side, it’s one of the perfect indoors activities to do!
How are produced cheeses in Normandy?
The visit is a fun and educational, as you’ll discover the whole making process of Norman cheeses as Livarot, Camembert, Neufchâtel and Pont-Lévêque. Where does the milk come from? How is it elaborated and then packed, to arrive to our plates? The visit will answer all these questions. You’ll go along a corridor with large windows through which you can see different rooms: laboratories, the one with the machines, but also the one where people manually wrap three to five stem strips around the cheeses! The best part? You can actually taste the cheeses at the end of the tour. The visit is free and lasts approximately an hour.
Personally I have crush for the Neufchâtel, what about you?
Boujou (the Norman way to say XOXO)
