Chicago

Chicago #1. Looking up and down !

A year ago I was lucky to visit Chicago for a friend’s wedding, and just loved this place and its atmosphere! Why? Because the city is as modern and innovative as New York (the city was destroyed by a fire in October 1871 and rebuilt with higher buildings made with metal structures), full of energy as well, but even more pleasant to discover…from the city center you can reach the beach in few minutes, the Chicago River brings so much charm to the city landscape, but also because it’s soooo clean(compared with New York of course)! I spent 4 days there, 1 for the wedding (it won’t appear on the blog) and 3 to discover the city!

I arrived really early at the airport, so after leaving my suitcase at the Airbnb appartment (in South Loop area), I enjoyed the all day! Started it by taking a water taxi from the Shoreline Water Taxi (cost $8 per adult) to the Navy Pier and was amazed by the skyline! Then I had a walk around the Navy Pier, enjoyed the view from the Ferris wheel (so cliché, but loved it anyway!!!), and went to the city center.

After a short break, I wandered in the streets, appreciated the various architecture, like the Tribune, Trump, or Board of Trade Tower, but also the Michigan Bridge. It was a nice surprise to discover the train station and the Rockery building as well. Then, it was time to face the Willis tower view and its famous skydeck (be smarter than me make a reservation here, so you don’t have to wait for hours! It’ll cost you $22 per adult)! I think the pictures below speak for themselves 🙂

On the ground again, I finished this perfect day by running up the Chicago River and eating delicious (very light!!!) Giordano’s pizzas!

Don’t miss the next posts!
