Hello! More and more people are asking me which hotel to stay in when they visit Jersey. As I’m living in the island I could only advise you based on the experience of my family and friends, until now… I was lucky enough to spend my birthday weekend at the Atlantic Hotel. I loved it and I think you will love staying at this hotel too!
The Atlantic, a boutique hotel for a weekend in the island of Jersey
The west coast of Jersey offers a superb panorama with its long beach which links the south and north coasts with wild sand dunes. It was a real pleasure to enjoy this view from the hotel room. Just a few minutes after arriving, I decided to start exploring and headed down to St Ouen’s beach! There are two paths to get to the beach. The first one is easier terrain, but longer. You leave the hotel and take the path that leads towards Corbière lighthouse before looping back around and down to the beach. The shorter and steeper path is on the right side of the hotel’s garden. It’s a sharp descent, but I managed it fine in an average pair of sneakers. After a relaxing couple of hours wandering in the dunes and on the beach I went back to the hotel and treated myself at the spa, making the most of the hotel’s indoor pool and jacuzzi.
A gourmet restaurant where everyone will find a dish to suit their tastes
Whether you’re sitting down for dinner or breakfast the food is absolutely divine. The service is equally as brilliant. I’m sure Istvan, the restaurant’s manager, will know how to take good care of you.
Dinner at the Atlantic hotel is as surprising as it is delicious!
Let’s start with dinner first. You have a choice between two menus: the daily changing market menu made with Jersey products, and La carte. I went for La carte, as there is more choice, and took the scallops as my starter. A real delight in terms of taste and texture! They were grilled from the outside and tender inside with a spicy puree of grapes and capers. I usually don’t like capers but this time I was seduced by the taste. The restaurant staff matched the dish with a spicy cocktail that complimented it perfectly. Why not? After all, it was my birthday! I continued with the venison and its honey roasted figs as a main dish. It was as delightful as the starter, the meat was very tender and cooked rare just as I requested, with a tasty sauce and broccoli. My Englishman took the Roast Beef, of course, which he appreciated as much I did my main.
I had almost no space left after all of these, but I still fell for the crème brûlée. I absolutely loved the unexpected design of the dessert! Also, there were many different textures: a light creme melting in the mouth, a crunchy homemade caramel and peanuts and an apple ice cream that brought a nice freshness!
A breakfast with a wide choice.
After all this food I slept like a baby as you can imagine! Especially since the room was plunged into darkness. If some of you need to a dark bedroom to get a good night’s sleep, the Atlantic hotel is the place you’re looking for! But let’s go back to serious things … breakfast! Honestly you can’t go wrong here. Everything is homemade, whether it is the cooked dishes or the buffet, so please treat yourself.
As you can see, I had a great experience at the Atlantic Hotel. What about you, would you be tempted to stay there for a weekend or a special dinner?
