Hi there! I woke up at Tobermory on the 3rd day of the road trip, with a busy schedule for the day as I traveled around the north coast of the isle of Mull.
The best walks in Mull
I’d have loved to spend the night at Glencorm Castle, but I was a little late to book a room. That’s what I told you in my previous article to book everything well in advance. However, I still wanted to visit the surroundings. Green meadows, cliffs and sheep as far as the eye can see, the approximately one hour walk is worth the detour! Be careful, don’t get too close to the lambs as their mothers are never far!!!
Then I took the road to Calgary and crossed the city of Dervaig! I just wanted to show you how fast the weather can change in Scotland, so on the Dervaig’s pictures below, the 2 photos were taken exactly 13 minutes apart!
I finally arrived in Tahiti Calgary, its white sand beach, its turquoise water (probably 10 degrees or less, should we go for a swim?) and its nice path along the coast for a good hour of walk again. The place is quiet, perfect for a picnic, and to skim stones!
The best views in Mull
I went back on the road to reach Acharonich, with several stops to admire the different viewpoints. Te one on Mount Ben More remains the most impressive. No doubt: humans are very small!
As there was a little time left before getting on the ferry at Craignure, a snack break was welcome at Salen (with local ice cream, whiskey flavor of course!) and I wandered near the boats’wrecks that are a few steps away only. Finally I made a detour to the south of Craignure at Duart Castle. Unfortunately it was getting refurbished but still offered a nice panorama on the countryside all around).
Oban, hotel and restaurant
Finally I left Isle of Mull at 19:15 to go back to Oban, where I spent the night at the Tanglin Guesthouse. To enjoy a nice dinner with a sunset view over the harbor (so romantic, I know) I recommend the Eeusk restaurant, and if you can book it in advance as well it’s for the best!
So what do you think of Mull? If you visited it, do you have any other recommendations you’d like to share?
The next article is coming soon and should please Harry Potter fans!
